NEW YORK: UTV Communications is releasing "Life in a… METRO" starring Shilpa Shetty in cinemas across the world on May 11.

In her first film since making a worldwide impact as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother Shilpa Shetty stars as Shikha, a bored housewife in Life in a… METRO, the story of many inter-related lives and their emotional journeys to discover love.

The film also stars Irrfan Khan who played the title role in Asif Kapadia’s award-winning British film The Warrior and was most recently seen in Mira Nair’s The Namesake. Irrfan Khan is also soon to appear in A Mighty Heart alongside Angelina Jolie.

Directed by Anurag Basu (Murder, Gangster), the film is a collection of tales set in one of the world’s busiest cities – Mumbai; a bored housewife who embarks on an illicit friendship, a 30 year old virgin who tries to find love through dating websites, a young man who desperately tries to make his way in the business world and a husband who cheats on his wife… Their everyday lives are thrown into turmoil in their pursuit of love and happiness.

Emotions run amok in a city that fights for attention. Staying on top means running someone down; a promotion means sidelining someone else. Love means a ‘no strings attached’ tryst in an empty flat.

‘Commitment’ and ‘Love’ are words for losers… or so they say! But life has a way of turning things around. Life in a… METRO is a churn of all these emotions, set in the lives of various people… people like us.
