NEW YORK: 'NrityaRanjnani 08' the annual function of the Folkdance classes was organized with aplomb and grace by the students of the Bhavan's Naratan Rang Academy at the Hindu Temple Auditorium on June 29.
Children displayed their sense of rhythm and impressive talents as their parents, grand parents and family members cheered them on. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, US has a number of cultural activities going on under one roof.
Bhavan's Nartan Rang Dance Academy promotes Indian dance form. Folk dances of different regions of India, semi classical and Bollywood dances run by Swati Vaishnav.
Such activities encourage and inspire children, young adults and adults to learn and appreciate the art.
Moreover we are proud to announce that the Bhavan US Nartan Rang (Dance academy) is dedicated to the loving memory of Matushri Ansuya Amritlal Shukla, the mother of the director and trustee Rajendra Shukla.
In all 16 dances were performed. Children of different age groups came together and displayed their talents and team spirit. The children danced with such zeal and enthusiasm that the school offered them the choice of learning semi classical, folk dance along with their favorite film song. Vande Mataram dance stood tall among all.
That was the finale of the show where whole school came on the stage with Indian flag. The choreography and execution were wonderful as the culture seemed to be in safe hands.
Firstly, the prayer dance which combined beginners and seniors together, indicating the age you start and what the transformation is after learning.
Ghada dance and the dance performed on the song Jag suna suna lage from the movie 'Om Shanti Om' were the highlights.
P Jayaraman started the show by explaining the lyrics of the prayer song on vakra tunda and om namaha shivay.
