India Post News Service PALA ALTO, CA: The world's longest-running women's professional tennis event, the Bank of the West Classic, collaborated with Nirvana Woman Magazine to host the Nirvana Woman Fashion Show on July 18.
The first stop of the Olympus US Open Series, the Bank of the West Classic, in its 37th year, is owned and operated by IMG. The white tents, the rows of chairs and the freshly painted runway glistened under the huge trees at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium in Stanford University.
The backdrop for 30 minutes of high fashion, the runaway was the cynosure of all eyes. Well- dressed and coiffed invitees lounged with wine and hors d'oeuvres, their attention fixed on the models showcasing the designs.
By early afternoon the backstage tent was bustling with activity, with the models getting their hair and make up done, and the organizers getting the clothes ready and gearing up for the evening. There was order in the seeming chaos as model after model stepped out on the runway coordinated and put together.
The fashion show, which took place between session 1 and 2 of the Quarter-Finals, showcased high-end jewelry and clothing from distinguished local and international designers.
In the first segment, the models looked red-carpet ready in their exquisite jewelry from Highglow Jewelers paired with elegant evening wear from Emily Jane Clothing.
The second segment featured three contemporary designer labels from Palo Alto, In Her Shoes, Pink Elf, and Vian Hunter. The models strutted down the runway sporting fun, summery clothes and gorgeous accessories.
The third segment featured spectacular evening dresses from the San Francisco based designer Joseph Domingo. The models gracefully walked the ramp, giving the audience a chance to dwell on the beautiful craftsmanship of the chic dresses.
And finally, in a perfect ending for an already beautiful evening, the models presented designs by famous Indian designers Sabyasachi, Shantanu & Nikhil, Payal Jain, Renu Tandon, Mandira Wirk and Rocky S, courtesy The Grand Trunk, a Fremont based boutique.
