Gurdas Maan is known to be very selective about his appearance in films other than those produced by his own company. He has done so only once, for Yash Chopra's Veer Zaara. But Gurdas Maan was more than pleased to sing and dance with Kirron Kher in Dave Atwal's feature film Mummy Ji.

On the sets, Maan was his usual humble self. He stated that he is thrilled to be a part of Atwal Entertainment's foray into the film business. Dave Atwal stated that Maan is special human being whose voice and dance are like blessings from an elder brother to his younger brother for his first film - Mummy Ji.

The film, set in Chandigarh, follows Mummy Ji from her place in the kitchen to an emancipated role in society, in a journey that mirrors a new coming of age of the 'Maa' (Indian mother). This film is an English comedy, showing a Punjabi urban mother balancing tradition and customs with an independent and open mind.

The title character, played by Kirron Kher, portrays the 'person' inside the mother while making the audience laugh and cry with her. Mummy Ji is a complete family entertainer with undercurrents of strong emotions. Kirron Kher essays the feisty lead role, playing alongside Jackie Shroff, Kanwaljit Singh, Divya Dutta and Viraf Patel.

The music is composed by Aadesh Srivastava (known for chartbusters like 'Shaava Shaava', 'Suno Na Suno Na'). Besides Gurdas Maan, other singers include Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Richa Sharma and Shaan, who make this film music a bouquet of Bhangra, romance, disco, and ghazal.
