Indian Ocean kicks off fourth US Tour
Wednesday, 07.04.2007, 02:04am (GMT-7)

NEW YORK: Indian Ocean, India's premiere rock band, is heading back to the US for their fourth tour. The US fan base of this quartet from Delhi has grown significantly over the past few years, creating a larger demand each time they head across the ocean. This time, their tour, which kicks off in Hayward, California on July 14, will stretch from California to Texas to Connecticut, ending in New York on August 25.

Over the last 17 years, Indian Ocean has performed over 200 concerts in major Indian cities and at prestigious venues in Scotland, UK, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Germany.

Indian Ocean is comprised of four musicians, Susmit Sen (guitar and vocals), Asheem Chakravarty (tabla, other percussion and vocals), Rahul Ram (bass guitar and vocals) and Amit Kilam (drums, gabgubi, other percussion, recorder and vocals).

Over the course of their outstanding career, they have released five albums: Indian Ocean (1993), Desert Rain (1997), Kandisa (2000) and Jhini (2003), and the Original Sound Track for the feature film Black Friday (2005).

Desert Rain reached number 7 on the UK iTunes World Music list and the track Bandeh from Black Friday reached #2 on the film charts! They are currently working on a new album that will be released soon.
