The protests by Left parties and others to the Malabar naval exercises involving India and the US apart from three other countries bring home the point that the facade of ideology still remains in international relations, even if it for a rhetorical purpose.

Doctor donates fortune to his native village

HOUSTON: An Indian-American neurosurgeon has donated about $ 20 million, from his personal fortune, to build health facilities in his native village in Kerala. Dr Kumar Bahuleyan, born in a poor Dalit family in Chemmanakary, moved to the US where he made millions as a neurosurgeon and lived a lavish life, which included a Rolls-Royce, five Mercedes-Benz cars and an airplane.

Implications of Russian withdrawal from arms control treaties

The US decision to base interceptors and radars in the Czech Republic and Poland, as a part of its Ballistic Missile Defense shield in Europe, has forced Russia to take a series of counter measures. Offensive measures include deployment of S-400 Triumph air defense missiles and a successful test of a sea based ballistic missile on August 7.

Naxals-LTTE nexus is growing in Tamil Nadu

The Naxalite presence in Tamil Nadu has been discovered with a training camp conducted by former People's War Group Naxals in the Periyakulum forests, Theni district, on June 25. Three persons were arrested by the police from the site while the hunt for seven other Naxals continues.
