CHENNAI: Viswanathan Anand was showered with more encomiums as Mylapore Club felicitated him here for winning his second World Chess Champion title in Mexico recently.
Rajya Sabha MP M A M Ramaswamy, also the President of the club, said Anand had brought glory to the game, country, himself and his parents by winning the Championship.
The Tamil Nadu Chess Federation sprang a surprise on him when President of the Federation P R Venkatrama Raja offered Anand the Lifetime Honorary President's post, which he accepted in all humility.
Editor of "The Hindu" N Ravi said even the words "Great" and "Genius" were now understatement to Anand's prowess.
"His game is intuitive and if somebody thought he lacked the killer instinct which a sportsman normally requires, just ask his opponent across the board," Ravi said. Veteran tennis star Ramanathan Krishnan wanted him to scale new heights and said "give me more".
