There was another memorable moment for Indians to celebrate as Rahul Dravid became the third Indian and sixth batsman in one day cricket to cross the 10,000 run mark.
The 'Wall' has without a doubt developed as one of the finest batsman in ODIs. For a man whose career one-day average is now close to 40, this incredible individual achievement can never over shadow the team man that Rahul Dravid is.
"Just really a number, nice to get there. I batted in different positions, kept wickets. Ability to play in different positions is great," said Dravid.
Dravid joins an elite club of just five other batsmen who have scored more than 10,000 runs in one-day cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar who is now closer to 15,000 one-day runs leads that list. Brian Lara, the only player in that list is not from the sub-continent.
Infact the last three in that list joined the 10,000 club in the last 18 months.
Dravid also owes thanks to another member of that elite list. It was Sourav Ganguly's decision to make Dravid keep in England in 2002 that really cemented his place in the one-day side. –Agencies
