Chetan Anand falls at final hurdle

HEDERABAD: Chetan Anand's dream of claiming his first Grand Prix title was crushed with the final match defeat at Yonex Sunrise India Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament against Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana here.

Anand, the reigning national champion, lost 16-21, 12-21 in the men's singles event. Mi Zhou of Hong Kong emerged champion in the women's category as she pipped Chinese Lan Lu 21-14 21-14 in the final match.

Chinese pair of Zhendong Guo and Zhogbo Xie took away the men's doubles title after beating Choon Eng Chew and Chong Ming Chan of Malaysia 19-21, 21-14, 21-12.
