Kaarthick to tie the knot
Thursday, 04.12.2007, 12:06am (GMT-7)

MUMBAI: Promising wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Kaarthick is all set tie the nuptial knot with city-based Nikita Vanjara here on May 2, according to sources close to the cricketer.

A Commerce graduate, Nikita hails from Manor and her father Deepak and Kaarthick's father Krishna Kumar are the best of friends. The wedding, to be held at a suburban hotel here, is expected to be a low-key affair and only close relatives and friends of the two families are being invited, sources said.

Many members of the Indian cricket team are expected to attend the marriage ceremony. Since the wedding is being held on a day which is a holiday in Maharashtra, several Mumbai-based cricketers are likely to be present on the occasion.

The 21-year-old Chennai-based cricketer was part of India's World Cup team that made an early exit after their shock defeat to minnows Bangladesh. After his marriage, a busy schedule awaits Kaarthick who stands a strong chance of being included in the Indian squad for its tour of Bangladesh, starting on May 10.
