DHAKA: India has beaten Pakistan and Bangladesh in the two matches of the one-day-tri series. It first snapped Pakistan's winning streak by inflicting on them a crushing 140-run defeat in the second match at Sher-e-Bangla stadium.

In its match against Bangladesh, powered by an unbeaten century by Gautam Gambhir (107) India defeated Bangladesh comprehensively by seven-wickets. India emerged as superior side in the tournament, finishing the league match engagements with two victories in as many matches.

In the Indo-Pak cricket battle, an all round performance ensured an Indian victory as their batsmen and bowlers fired in unison to stop Pakistan's march towards 13th consecutive win. Indians, having elected to bat, piled up massive 330 for eight, thanks to a stupendous batting by the top-order. Openers Virender Sehwag (89) and Gautam Gambhir (62) hit sparkling half-centuries and shared an amazing 155-run partnership to lay a strong foundation for the big total.

Pakistan, in reply, were bundled out for 190 in just 35.4 overs, giving India its biggest win against them. Praveen Kumar (4/53) spoiled Pakistan run-chase as he rocked Pakistan battling line up by claiming three quick wickets, including two on consecutive balls.

It was a matter of formality from here as Pakistan's hopes had ended with the wickets of all of its important batsmen. Earlier, Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh (55) tore apart the Pakistan attack.

After Sehwag and Gambhir put on an 155-run opening stand in just over 21 overs, India seemed set for a 350-plus score but they subsequently lost part of the momentum to settle for a little less. Pakistan cut a sorry figure as a fielding unit with Younis Khan twice dropping Gambhir when the batsman was on four and 29.

Younis first grassed one in the second slip off Gul in the very first over and he fumbled again at wide slip when Gambhir's hard slash went through his fingers, Wahab being the bowler this time. Stumper Kamran Akmal should also own up his share of the blame as he dropped Sehwag off Rao Iftikhar when the batsman was on 43.

Bangla match In its match against Bangladesh, India set to chase 223 to win and overhauled the modest target with 14.5 overs to spare as the demolishing Indian opening pair of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir scorched the Sher-e-Bangla stadium with thundering shots all around the park.

Sehwag (58), who hit a blazing half-century, put up 85 runs in just 10 overs for the first wicket along with Gambhir, setting a firm foundation for the convincing victory.

Earlier, Raqibul Hasan hit a brilliant 89-run knock to steer Bangladesh to 222 all out in 49.5 overs, after electing to bat on a good bating track. It was Gambhir's second successive hundred against Bangladesh and fifth overall, which was studded with 13 boundaries and one shot over the fence.

Mumbai batsman Rohit Sharma joined Gambhir as skipper Dhoni opted to continue with the left-right combination. Gambhir paced his innings well and along with Yuvraj Singh (26) took India closer to the target. Realising that Gambhir was nearing his hundred, Yuvraj preferred to give more strike to his partner and soon after Gambhir got his ton, Yuvraj perished going for the kill.

Mortaza clean bowled him after the Punjab left-hander had gathered 26 runs from 33 balls, helping himself with one four and a six.

At the start, Raqibul Hasan played a brilliant innings and shared two crucial partnerships to help Bangladesh set India a modest target of 223.
