Sunday, 03.04.2007, 11:51pm (GMT-7)

NEW DELHI: Making the cricket World Cup a life-time travel experience, The Geographical Company has chartered the luxurious cruise liner Silver Wind, a member of the Silversea Fleet.

Anchoring off from Puerto Rico on April 9, this very unique Silver Wind sailing program spans 11 days and shores thrice at Barbados allowing travelers to witness crucial matches played by the Indian cricket team against rival teams of Pakistan, England and West Indies at the Kensington Oval Stadium.

The cruise program offers that magical twist to the much awaited World Cup experience. It tailors its program to the Indian cricket fans who are not just connoisseurs of the finest but also hold cricket high in their list of favourites. Says Ritika Modi, Director - The Geographical Company "The game of cricket holds the nation captive. Many of rich and famous have already marked these days off from their packed business schedules to enjoy India battle it out in the 2007 World Cup. We have collaborated with Silversea and used the World Cup as a forum to create an exceptional ocean voyage targeted at industry leaders and accomplished professionals who will opt to sail with us to rediscover a lifestyle of genuine and refined hospitality with the unique opportunity to enjoy live cricket."

The cruise liner promises "A journey above and beyond all expectations" and indeed, Silversea personifies luxury and a life-style laced with Italian heritage and an evolved European style. The 148 suites on board are flanked by private veranda decks in teak wood overlooking the ocean. The Silver Wind features a variety of world class dining options including a selection of authentic Indian vegetarian cuisine coupled with complimentary fine wines and spirits.

Aboard the Silver Wind guests can choose to visit the on-board Panorama Lounge that offers dancing to a range of live musical styles for every taste or The Champagne Room where guests can enjoy the perfect venue to enjoy a selection of cigars, exceptional cognacs, exquisite grappa and more. Adds Ritika Modi, "We chose the Silver Wind because it epitomizes the very best of luxury and offers a wide choice of on-board diversions with personalised six star services making it a truly unique experience for the traveller".

With live cricket at the Kensington Oval Stadium, energetic on-board performances, balls, and time spent away from worldly cares at some of the most exotic and elaborate golf courses in the Caribbean, this Silversea voyage transcends the traditional concept of cruising and promises to keep the excitement alive, both off and on the deck.
