India Post News Service

NEW DELHI: Involvement of employees across the rungs of hierarchy and roles brings in change when applied with persistence and diligence. This was how Kiran Bedi of IPS fame summed up her experience while speaking as Chief Guest at the CII Western UP Annual Session 2007-08 And Session on Nurturing Creativity: Leveraging Human Capital. Giving examples from her tenure with the Indian Police, she spoke of how a young constable will know more about say IT, than a senior IG in police and thus the involvement of the 'constable' in regular meetings along with the IGs, designed to bring about change, becomes a natural and necessary component.

The session also saw the outgoing Chairman of CII Western UP Zonal Council, Amitabh Nangia, Entrepreneur and CEO of Tricolite Electrical Industries Ltd; hand over the baton to the incoming Agarwal. Speaking on the occasion, Nangia highlighted the consistent increase in enrollment of members which now stands at 277 an increase of approximately 8 percent over last year's count.

He also drew attention of the Members to the necessary involvement of all the four stakeholders - CII members / Government / Society / Media, in coming together seamlessly to increase the innovative competitiveness desired in the nation.Salil Singhal, Chairman Secure Meters Ltd and Deputy Chairman, CII Northern Region urged the members to take up a small but necessary commitment of installing water harvesting systems within their factories before the end of 2008. Saying that this is not only necessary but also akin to medical treatment, for water is going to be our major issue in times to come. He also stressed that CII is committed to building people to build the nation.
