India badly hit by global meltdown

NEW DELHI: Global stock markets plunged, as US President George W Bush's tax plan to revive the world's largest economy disappointed investors. In the Asian trade on Tuesday, Indian stocks tumbled over 10 per cent triggering the circuit breaker. South Korea closed down 3.0 percent at a five-month low, Singapore shed 6.03 percent and Sydney lost 2.9 per cent.

 

Prahalad envisions India's transformation by 2022

NEW DELHI: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is building a comprehensive vision for India@75 and will undertake an "aspirational role" and facilitate India's transformation to a global leader by 2022. This vision has been developed by Prof CK Prahalad, Paul Ruth McCracken University Professor, Ross School of Business and The University of Michigan.

Dr Reddy’s acquires contract for US-based BASF

MUMBAI: Home grown Pharma major Dr Reddys Laboratories (DRL) said it will acquire US-based BASF's pharmaceutical contract business and its manufacturing facility for an undisclosed amount. BASF's business which would be transferred to DRL, includes contract manufacturing of generic prescription and over-the-counter products for branded and generic companies in the United States, DRL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
