SRINAGAR: A film development corporation should be set up in Jammu and Kashmir to give boost to tourism as well as the entertainment industry here, actor Shatrughan Sinha has said. He said the proposed corporation should serve as a single window clearance for directors and producers wishing to shoot in the valley.

Setting up of the corporation will attract more people from Bollywood to the valley, the actor-turned- politician told reporters here. Sinha said Bollywood shunned Kashmir under compulsion but it now desires to capture its fascinating locations. He said he was here not in the capacity of a political personality but to encourage his son Luv, who shot for a dance sequence of his debut film "Sadiyan" in Kashmir recently.

"Luv and Ferzenia Wazir have become brand ambassadors of the Tulip garden here to promote the beauty of the valley," he claimed. Maintaining that he never broke his ties with Kashmir even during the peak of militancy, he said "the shooting of my home production, which was delayed due to shooting of Sadiyan, will take place in Kashmir."

A number of directors and producers have already approached the state government for shooting here. He said the atmosphere in Kashmir is apt for shooting of films. "I don't want just Bollywood films in the valley but also Tamil, Telugu film directors to shoot in the valley". However, he suggested further improvement in the tourism-related infrastructure in the valley.

"I would suggest the government provide facilities to film units which will earn it revenue and boost tourism also". Asked about the view that the situation was not normal in Kashmir, he said "Kashmir is as safe as any other part of the world."
