AAHOA joins Bush to celebrate Heritage Month Tuesday, 05.06.2008, 11:19pm (GMT-7) ATLANTA, GA: The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), through its Chairman Ashwin "Ash" Patel, Vice Chairman Tarun S. Patel, Secretary ChandraKant "C.K." Patel, attended an exclusive, invitation-only event with President George W. Bush in the East Room of the White House May 1, along with approximately 250 of the most recognized Asian/Pacific American leaders in the United States. The gathering was to kick-off the beginning of Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, which the President announced by Proclamation on April 29. "It is with great pride that, as the Chairman of AAHOA, I was invited to meet with President Bush and represent our 8,700 Asian American members for this special event," said Chairman Patel. "As a result of their hard work, commitment to the community, and family values, our members are living the American dream, and this month we can celebrate their extraordinary successes." Vice Chairman Tarun Patel added, "It is significant that this year AAHOA leaders have been specially invited to the White House to honor Asian Americans. AAHOA is making remarkable strides in showcasing the talents and business acumen of Indian Americans and it is a true privilege to be part of a national celebration with the leaders of this country." During his remarks, President Bush stated, "More than 15 million Americans claim Asian or Pacific ancestry. They make America’s culture more vibrant, and we’re a better place — and a more lively place." The President then added, "Asian Pacific Americans make our country more competitive. It turns out there’s a great entrepreneurial streak that runs throughout the citizens whom we honor today. Small business owners all over America are creating new jobs and are living the dream. They enrich America because of their love for America."
