Surprise party to fete Pam Kwatra

NEW JERSEY: New Jersey, New York community and friends of Pam Kwatra invited guests to a surprise party at Guru Palace, NJ, on June 13 to celebrate the Ellis Island Medal of honor, conferred upon her on May 10 at a well-attended gala. Pam was invited to a party being hosted by Jaggi at Guru Palace. However, when she walked in, she was astonished to see a galaxy of friends and admirers who had arrived to grace the occasion.

The "who's who" of the community came to express their love and admiration for the only Indian woman to receive the 2008 Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Mona Chodha, event planner and coordinator, was also the Master of Ceremony and MC'd the whole evening.

Among those present were Kul Raj Anand, Dr BK Agnihotri, his wife Dr Krishna Agnihotri, Dr. Biki Jaggi and Dr Prithvi Bhalla, both Trustees of Durga Temple Kendall Park, NJ; Dr Navin Mehta, Chairman of AAPI NY & CEO of Bhartiya Vidhya Bhavan, Dr Sudhanshu Prasad, Edison NJ Councilman, Sureshwar Singh, Founder of India Day Parade & President of Vishwa Sundari Pageant; Suresh Jani, Chairman Global Gujrati, Sunil Nayak, President of AINA (Association of Indians of North America), Dr Sunita Kanumary, Former Trustee of AAPI (National), Giri, Pres., Hindu Center NY, Mahesh Tilda, Eric Kumar of Caravan Foods and Mahesh Tilda. Dr Bhishma Agnihotri said: "Women have to work twice as hard to get the same award that men receive.

We have known Pam for many years, she is a good friend and we are very proud that she received this honor". Pam Kwatra expressed her gratitude to the media, all supporters, relatives, friends, admirers and everyone who contributed in any way to put together this memorable event. She said "I am so humbled with the love showered upon me by my community. I dedicate this award to my community. I received this Medal of Honor because of my community and for my community."
