Many Indians in Obama's fund raising committee

WASHINGTON: Democratic Barrack Obama's presidential campaign has formed an Asian-American Finance Committee, which includes several Indians, to raise fund for the senator and the party.

The committee consists of diverse American communities, including those from Asian American, South Asian American, and Pacific Islander background. "We look forward to doing everything we can to elect Obama in November," national co-chair Vinod Khosla has said.

"From ending the war in Iraq and restoring America's standing abroad, to promoting innovation and working toward a comprehensive energy independence plan, from restoring the balance between civil liberties and national security, to ensuring all Americans have access to high quality, affordable healthcare, Obama has consistently shown that he is the right choice not just for Asian-Americans, but for all Americans," he added.

The committee includes several prominent Indian Americans. The national co-chairs include Romita Shetty of New York, Mahinder Tak of Maryland, Swadesh Chaterjee of North Carolina and Vinod Khosla of Silicon Valley. Hrishi Karthikeyan of New York, Dave Kumar of Washington DC and Reshma Saujani of New York have been listed as Grassroots Co Chairs and Preeta Bansal of New York will be the National Co Chair and Senior Policy Advisor.
