Jay Goyal is elected House Majority Whip
Thursday, 11.27.2008, 05:04am (GMT-7)

NEW YORK: Members of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus for the 128th General Assembly tonight elected State Representative Jay Goyal (D-Mansfield) to serve as the new House Majority Whip starting in January.

“I am humbled to have earned the trust of Speaker-elect Budish and my new colleagues to serve in this position,” Rep. Goyal said. “The hard work of the last two years serves now as prelude to the job before us. We have the ability now to affect incredible change that makes lives better across Ohio, and I can’t wait to start.” Rep. Goyal’s new responsibilities include monitoring legislation and securing votes for legislation on the House floor. He will serve in the first Democratic House majority since 1994.

“It is a cliché, but it’s true: With great power comes greater responsibility,” Rep. Goyal said. “We have a responsibility to stand up for hard-working families and provide common-sense solutions to the problems they face every day. I will partner with both my Democratic colleagues and my friends across the aisle to bring those solutions to the House floor and get this important work done.” Rep. Goyal will begin his second term as Representative of the 73rd Ohio House District on January 5, 2009.
