WASHINGTON DC: Dr. Hiral Tipirneni, an emergency room physician, cancer research advocate, and candidate for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, has secured endorsements of Congresswomen Judy Chu (CA-27) and Grace Meng (NY-06), as well as Aspire PAC, AAA Fund, AAPI Victory Fund, and Indian American Impact Fund.
Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) comprise more than 6 percent of the U.S. population and are the fastest growing minority group in the country. AAPIs are leaders in business, medicine, technology, science, and academia. Yet from city halls to state houses, from courthouses to Congress, AAPIs are traditionally underrepresented.
“I am honored and humbled to receive such broad support so that I might add my voice on behalf of the West Valley to the growing AAPI chorus contributing a missing perspective in Congress,” said Dr. Tipirneni. “In truth, the issues facing AAPI communities, such as quality, affordable health care, excellent public education, and protected retirement security, are the same issues that all Americans care deeply about,” Hiral stated.
“Dr. Tipirneni would be a wonderful advocate for the communities of Arizona’s West Valley and I would be proud to serve in Congress with her,” said Congresswoman Meng. “Her professional background and personal experiences as a first-generation immigrant are sorely needed right now in our nation’s capital,” added Meng.
Aspire Pacis “Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Rising & Empowering Political Action Committee” is a federal PAC supporting candidates of AAPI descent and those that support and promote the issues of the AAPI community
Founded in 1999, the Asian American Action Fund (AAA) brings together progressive AAPI leaders from each of the major AAPI ethnic groups in the United States, including Chinese, Korean, Indian, Pakistani, Vietnamese, Hmong, Filipino, Japanese, and Pacific Islanders.
The AAPI Victory Fund, still in its inaugural year, is focused on mobilizing AAPI eligible voters and moving them to the ballot box.
Indian American Impact Fund known as Impact Fund, a new initiative, is part of an effort to recruit, train, and elect talented and patriotic Indian American candidates at all political levels.
A special election is required to fill the vacancy created when disgraced former Congressman Trent Franks abruptly resigned in December 2017 in the wake of the #MeToo movement. Dr. Tipirneni won the special primary election, held February 27 by 21 points. The special general election will be held on April 24. Ballots have already been mailed and early voting has officially begun.
After losing her mother and nephew to cancer, Dr. Hiral Tipirneni left emergency medicine to concentrate on cutting-edge cancer research. At the age of three, Hiral came to America from India with her family in pursuit of the American dream. Hiral and her husband met while in medical school in Ohio. They live in the Phoenix area. She is on the board of directors for the Maricopa Health Foundation.
