CHICAGO: With fifty plus grocery stores across the country under its belt , Patel Brothers has added one more feather in its cap of achievements by formally launching last week its biggest facility in Naperville, a Chicago suburb, in the presence of a huge cheering crowd and Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico.
The 42,000 sq ft facility is nearly double the size of the one that Patel Brothers had done in another Chicago suburb – Schaumburg – a couple of years ago. This is probably the largest facility of its type in Midwest. Not to be out done and showing their huge admiration for the Patels, the enthusiastic customers from across Chicagoland and even neighboring States literally besieged the facility for three days beginning April 5 to buy their groceries and vegetables.
A customer at the store could get anything – from pin to elephant so to say – as far as grocery items and vegetables are concerned. And for three days they could not hide their happiness or glee since the bargain sale announced by the management exceeded their wildest expectations about price and quality. According to an estimate by an insider, the gross sale easily topped over a couple of million dollars; a mark bettering even management expectations.
Naperville Mayor Chirico welcomed and thanked Patel Brothers, a nationally-known Indian grocery chain, for coming to Naperville and re-developing the long-vacant property at 1568 Ogden Avenue. In addition to a 40,000 ft plus grocery store specializing in ingredients and cuisine of India and Southeast Asia, he observed, the remainder of property – about 50,000 – will be converted into a new shopping plaza with multiple retailers,
including numerous dining and shopping options.
“This is a huge win for the City of Naperville. Revitalization of Naperville’s vacant commercial spaces and the resulting economic benefits it brings is reason to celebrate. We welcome Patel Brothers to Naperville with open arms,” he said.
Patel Brothers has 52 locations throughout the country; the Naperville store will be the fourth location in Illinois. The property was purchased by Raja Foods, LLC.
Christine Jeffries, President and CEO of the Naperville Development Partnership is credited with the view that this project is an outstanding addition to Naperville and Patel Brothers is a great fit for Naperville.
