MUMBAI: Maharashtra Health Minister Deepak Sawant has informed the state Legislative Assembly that according to a survey, 30 per cent of women in urban areas of the state face the risk of breast cancer.
Sawant, in a written reply to Madhuri Misal (BJP), said the survey conducted by a Pune-based private organization revealed that 30 per cent of women in cities of Maharashtra face the risk of developing breast cancer.
The survey was released last month, the minister said.
Admitting that cost of treatment of the fatal disease is enormous, he said breast cancer is treated free of cost under the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi scheme.-PTI
