CHICAGO: Over 600 people attended a picnic hosted by the Bhartiya Senior Citizens of Chicago at the Brahm Premanand Ashram, Elgin, a north side suburb of Chicago on June 29.
Rakishikaben Anjaria, Joint Secretary of BSC, welcomed all participants. Guests were treated to a variety of snacks like Fafda, Jalebi, Onion, Gota, Bhaji-Pav, Athana (Pickle) tea, coffee, other beverages like Pepsi, Coke, Sankist.
Many participated in games such as a Brain Memory, Hair Clips, Musical Chair, Limbu Chamchoo (Spoon Race), Bingo games winners received prizes from sports committee headed by Pratima Shah.
An Indian meal consisting of Khichhadi, Saag, Mohan Thal (Indian sweet), Naan, Chhachh (Buttermilk) was also served. Among the honored guests were Cook County Collector Timothy O. Schneider, Schaumburg Township Trustee Nimesh Jani, Shree Nathji Haveli, Trustee Kanubhai Hathi, Sahara Asian Elderly Care Lombard representatives, New Age Home Health’s Administrator’s Dhaval Patel and Hitesh Patel, Manager of Air Tour.
Cook County Collector Timothy O. Schneider spent a few hours with BSC members. Dhaval Patel and their team (New Age Home Health) checked blood pressure during the picnic. Sahara Elderly Care Services enrolled seniors who were eligible.
President of BSC Haribhai Patel thanked Ma Divya and Bharatbhai Thakkar of the Ashram for use of their facilities.
Secretary Pursottam Pandya, Vice President Shivabhai Patel and Batukbhai Shukla Chair-Person thanked all committee members for having worked so hard to ensure the success of the picnic.
