Scindia episode must not be repeated: Ashwani Kumar

NEW DELHI: As Jyotiraditya Scindia joins BJP, former Law Minister Ashwani Kumar gets candid about the turn of events over the last two days and maintains that Congress should look within so that this kind of thing “doesn’t happen in future”.

Kumar said that the communication channel within the party should be smooth so that no “misunderstanding” can take place in the future. Speaking to IANS in Parliament, Ashwani Kumar said: “This should not happen in future and the party should assure its people if any leader leaves the party, both the party and the leader losses.”

Kumar though did not make any mention of Scindia’s name. “There could be an error of communication and miscommunication within the party. This type of decision taken that can be ‘avoidable’, the party should reassure that this should not be repeated

“The uncertainty in the future leadership of the party must end,” Kumar added. He though maintained that as Sonia Gandhi is at the helm, there is no uncertainty in the present, but the future also cannot be left undecided for long. “We have to take a decision on the future leadership in some time and the party should take this decision soon,” he added.

The issue of future leadership should be decided the former Law Minister asserted. After the open revolt by Jyoturaditya Scindia, the Madhya Pradesh Government has been reduced in numbers.

The Congress can only hope that the MLAs lodged in Bengaluru returns and if half of them come back in the party the government could be saved. Congress has despatched Harish Rawat, Mukul Wasnik and Deepak Babaria for the fire fighting as the MLAs are set to be in Jaipur.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will keep the flock together along with the other leaders. IANS
