CHICAGO: A news release from the Indian consulate in Chicago informs that the Indian Cabinet has placed a seal of approval on August 19, 2020 for setting up of a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to conduct Common Eligibility Test, paving the way for a transformational reform in the recruitment process for Central Government jobs.

NRA will be a multi-agency body to encompass the first level test by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), and the Institute of Banking Service Personnel (BPS). There will be an online Common Eligibility Test (CET) at the first level for SSC, RRBs, and IBPS. NRA would provide Examination Centers in each district of the country and would greatly enhance access to the candidates located in far-flung areas.

These centers would greatly benefit candidates from rural areas in general and women candidates in particular. A single examination would reduce the financial burden on candidates to a large extent. CET would be available in a number of languages. This would greatly facilitate people from different parts of the country to take the exam and have an equal opportunity of being selected and intends to eradicate malpractices.
