‘. After having kept Mumbai as his primary base for 15 years, the actor recently moved to the US in light of better education prospects for his children, career opportunities for his wife and having signed with a Hollywood manager post the success of his movie A NEW CHRISTMAS.
With a new Hindi feature film and national television commercial soon releasing in India, and new film prospects in the US, the actor is gearing up to make major international strides. Recent years have placed popular and hit projects in his repertoire, from Neerja, The Tashkent Files, Special Ops to the recent Aashram 3 in which he played the wicked and grey-shaded cop DIG Sinha. The shoe endorsement is the first of such deals in his career.
Solm8 is a California based shoe brand launched by a designer couple, Jasmine & Bhupinder. Whilst Bhupinder went on to showcase his passion for footwear by diving in-depth into footwear design, tech and production for the last 25 years now, Jasmine on the other hand took up the brand development and communications.
They successfully created their first brand Jazba (sports performance footwear) back in 2016, and following a corporate conflict thereafter, they restarted in 2020 from scratch and launched SOLM8 which is primarily a Cricket shoe considering the growing popularity of the sport across the US.
Though designed for cricket, these are turf shoes that athletes have alternately used for trekking, biking or just being outdoors where they felt they needed a shoe with some grip.
Says Jasmine about the association with Prashantt, ‘he is connected with Cricket through his son who plays for the Queens United Cricket Academy (QUCA). It was from there that Coach George Samuel introduced us to the Bollywood actor. Whilst not a Cricketer himself, we felt Prashantt was a good match for SOLM8 as he also started from an unconventional background like we did.
He broke through the prevalent film families and connections as an outsider purely based on his passion, dedication and hard work. Similarly, SOLM8, is created by us as disruptors, who are not the typical business people but want to create a lasting relationship between our shoes and the players community.’
As Solm8 is still expanding, it isn’t uncommon to find young cricketers and sports shops across the US & West Indies carry this brand with its many fancy styles. The shoes can be bought from solm8.online. Future plans are to expand the range to include cricket accessories and other sports.
