This year’s Fremont 4th of July Parade featured a large contingent of Hindu Americans representing the community with a beautifully decorated float and over 150 participating members.
As the FOG float made its way on the Parade route, the whole area reverberated with ‘God Bless America’, ‘Happy 4th’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and songs such as ‘Mere Desh ki Dharti’.
There seemed to be equal, if not more of enthusiasm from the Parade watchers on both sides of Paseo Padre as they waved back, joined in chanting slogans and waving the American flags.
Leading the float atop the float was FOG Founder Dr. Romesh Japra who was epitome of energy and patriotism and motivating everyone all through the Parade.
He said “It is the perfect occasion to celebrate both the oldest and largest democracies in the world. Both American and Indian values align and focus on community.”
The FOG float also highlighted the upcoming FOG India Day Parade 2023 being held on August 20th 2023.
FOG float building showcased the community spirit, commitment, and passion of FOG volunteers. Led by FOG Chair Parade KP Maheshwari, a large number of volunteers conceptualized, designed and built the float in a short period of two weeks.
FOG President and event coordinator Rajesh Verma said “participation in 4th of July shows our commitment to City of Fremont and our community’s contribution to development and growth of Fremont.”
Over the years Indian diaspora has grown leaps and bounds in US and this Parade was a testament to the growing demographics and influence.
