CHICAGO: Anila Sinha Foundation (ASF) jointly with Kathak Nrityakala Kendra has announced a dance performance “Taleem” at Schaumburg Prairie Center for Arts in Schaumburg, a northwest Chicago suburb, on September 23 at 5 pm.
Dr Birendra Sinha, President ASF, said that this will show the journey of the students through various stages of their learning.
In this program, students will showcase what they have learnt during the previous years. It will include the depth of knowledge, the technical ability and choreography. “This event which is free and open to all, is worth seeing for the beginners as well as the accomplished students,” Dr Sinha added.
ASF, an Academy of Kathak dance and music is a not for profit organization established in 1998 in memory of Mrs. Anila Sinha, who was a highly accomplished Kathak dancer and promoter of Indian classical arts.
The foundation has dedicated its activities to the promotion of North Indian classical music and dance, mainly Kathak.
At present there are three teaching centers in Chicago land area – Elk Grove Village, Libertyville, Naperville. Soon there will be a branch in Chicago downtown. The students are trained in classical Kathak dance, choreography and stagecraft along with the associate subjects, Hindustani vocal and Tabla.
