FIA/FOG Telugu Sankranthi Celebration in collaboration with the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, was a grand success, drawing a large crowd and featuring vibrant cultural programs. The event was organized and executed by FOG Telugu Chairperson Jo Sharma (Jyotsna) under the leadership of Dr. Japra (FOG Founder) and team Dr. Abhilash Maroju (FOG Telugu President) and Devi Seetharam (FOG Telugu Director of Operations & Arts).
The chief guest of the event, Dr. Srikar Reddy, Consul General of San Francisco, addressed the audience alongside his wife, Prathima Reddy, both of whom enjoyed the entire show. Other dignitaries included Rakesh Adhlaka, SF Deputy Consul, and Jaswant Singh Head of Chancery CGI, SF. A special thanks to Ruchika Sharma, Social Secretary of the Consulate General, for her coordination, as well as to FOG representatives Rajesh Verma, Vidya Sethuraman, Ritu Maheswari, Sandeep Deswal, and Raghu for their support.
Raghu represented Jo Sharma, the main sponsor of the event, which showcased beautiful artwork by Devi Seetharam, including her unique Bommala Koluvu (traditional dolls) and colorful Rangoli (muggulu) arrangements, along with handmade kites used as decorative photo booths.
Highlights of the celebration included cultural performances such as the Sankranthi Kuchipudi Dances by Shivanoopuram (School of Kuchipudi) led by Sindhu Surendra, the Kollata dancedilse group Dance along with the BogiPallu led by SriSailaja Sayani, traditional group singing led by Srikali Varanasi, and the Sankranthi Fashion Walk (Andamaina Bhamalu) led by Anu Gangadi. Additional artwork was displayed by FOG Telugu Directors Srikali/Gautham and Megha, which included more kite decorations.
Medals were distributed by Dr. Srikar Reddy to all the leads of FOG Telugu. Food was provided by Anu Nair from the Vande Bharat Restaurant.
Jo Sharma (also known as Jyotsna), the Chairperson of FOG Telugu and the FOG Cultural Chair, organized pre-Sankranthi event competitions at the Fremont Hindu Temple. She hosted various activities, including kite-making, cooking, art, and rangoli competitions. She also sponsored the whole event.
