North American Film Association (NAFA) holds Marathi Film Festival held with grand fanfare

SAN JOSE, CA: The NAFA Marathi Film Festival 2025 was held from July 25th thru 27th in The California Theatre, San Jose to packed halls and thousands of enthusiastic viewers.  Replete with vibrant enthusiasm, the festival presented films, artists, and collaboration.

The festival featured a dazzling Red Carpet, with artists from Maharashtra honored for their contributions. The prestigious NAFA Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to the legendary actor Amol Palekar who was the cynosure of the audience.

Actor Sachin Khedekar delivered a powerful keynote speech emphasizing how associations like NAFA can contribute to cultural progress.

NAFASeveral interactive sessions discussed topics of filmmaking where personalities like Ashwini Bhave and Avadhoot Gupte shared insights.

U.S. release of Amol Palekar’s autobiography Aivaj and its English translation Viewfinder were highlights of NAFA festival.

U.S. Congressman Shri Thanedar graced the event and presented recognition from US Congress.

Following were the winning films in the Festival:

Best Short Film: Dumpyard
Best Screenplay: Bhangi – Durva Nandapurkar
Best Cinematography: Dumpyard – Bhushan Pal
Best Editing: Changing Room – Ruchir Kulkarni
Special Mentions: Biryani – Prafulla Kharkar & Submission – Gargi Khode

The set design with a new concept led by Mansi Deolekar was a beautiful presentation

NAFA festival continued its mission of promoting and progressing Marathi culture with the successful Film Festival.
