PHAGWARA: Highlighting the growing role of diaspora leadership in shaping civic engagement abroad, Phagwara-born cardiologist Dr. Romesh Japra continues to spearhead the expansion of Americans4Hindus (A4H), a national organization working to strengthen political awareness and participation among Hindu Americans.
During a recent visit to Phagwara, Dr. Japra, who is the Founder and Chairman of A4H, spoke to The Tribune, emphasizing the importance of active civic involvement alongside cultural preservation. “The future of our community depends not only on preserving our heritage, but on participating fully in the civic and political fabric of this nation,” he said, underlining the need for greater representation and engagement in public life.
Dr. Japra’s remarks come in the backdrop of A4H’s continued nationwide expansion, including the recent inauguration of four new regional chapters in the New England states of Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island. The initiative marks a significant step in building structured civic leadership networks and enhancing political participation among Hindu Americans in the United States.
Founded as an independent, non-partisan platform, Americans4Hindus operates through multiple political action committees (PACs) at the federal and state levels. The organization focuses on civic education, leadership development, policy engagement, and community mobilization, aiming to empower individuals to take part in democratic processes more effectively.
Under Dr. Japra’s leadership, A4H has witnessed rapid growth, establishing a presence across several states and creating avenues for dialogue between community members and policymakers.
