FREMONT, CA: The Festival of Globe (FOG), Federation of Indo-Americans (FIA), and the Fremont Hindu Temple & Cultural Center proudly joined thousands of residents in celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America during the City of Fremont’s Annual Fourth of July Parade.
Continuing a tradition of excellence, the organizations’ spectacular patriotic float was honored with the prestigious Best Float Award (First Place), recognizing its outstanding creativity, inspiring presentation, community participation, and celebration of American values.
Designed to commemorate 250 years of American freedom, the award-winning float beautifully showcased the principles of liberty, democracy, opportunity, unity, and the American Dream, while highlighting the invaluable contributions of Indian Americans and Hindu Americans to the growth, prosperity, and cultural richness of the United States.
For the Indian American community, this celebration carried profound significance. With our civilizational roots in Bharat, the world’s largest democracy, it was a proud moment to stand alongside fellow Americans in honoring 250 years of one of the world’s oldest modern democracies. The celebration reflected the enduring democratic values shared by both nations and reinforced a common vision of freedom, diversity, service, and global friendship.
A Community Effort Behind an Award-Winning Achievement
This remarkable recognition was made possible through the dedication of hundreds of volunteers who devoted countless hours to planning, designing, decorating, and presenting the float.
Special appreciation is extended to Parade Chairman K. P. Maheshwari, Ritu Maheshwari, and the entire volunteer team whose exceptional leadership, creativity, and commitment transformed a shared vision into an award-winning reality.

The organizations also acknowledge the visionary leadership of Dr. Romesh K. Japra, Founder & Chairman of Festival of Globe (FOG), Americans4Hindus, Britons4Hindus, and the Fremont Hindu Temple & Cultural Center. Through decades of dedicated community service, Dr. Japra has inspired generations by promoting civic engagement, cultural preservation, volunteerism, and patriotism while strengthening bridges between diverse communities.
The Celebration Continues – Join Us on August 16
The celebration of America’s 250th Birthday will continue with another historic event on Sunday, August 16, 2026, during the 34th Annual FOG India Day Parade & Festival in Fremont.
Organized by Festival of Globe (FOG), Federation of Indo-Americans (FIA), Fremont Hindu Temple, and Americans4Hindus, this landmark celebration will commemorate both:
250 Years of the Independence of the United States of America
80 Years of Bharat’s Independence
The event will celebrate the enduring friendship between the world’s oldest modern democracy and the world’s largest democracy while promoting the shared values of freedom, democracy, diversity, peace, and mutual respect.
Recognized as one of the largest India Day celebrations in North America, the parade will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., beginning on Capitol Avenue in front of Fremont City Hall.

Community members are warmly invited to help make this historic celebration even more memorable.
Volunteer planning meetings are held every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Fremont Hindu Temple, and everyone is encouraged to participate in this remarkable community initiative.
