Q: How long have you practiced immigration law?
Aneeta: I have practiced law for nearly two decades, primarily as a trial lawyer. Immigration became a natural extension of my work because many injured workers we represented were also dealing with immigration challenges. We saw people afraid to file legitimate claims because of their status or because employers used immigration concerns as leverage. We wanted to provide clients with a firm that could fight for them on every front.
Timothy: Immigration defense has been central to my practice for more than a decade. Growing up in Los Angeles, I saw firsthand how immigrant families contribute to our communities. When a worker loses wages or a family member is detained, the consequences are immediate and devastating. We bring the same commitment and determination to immigration cases that we bring to workers’ rights cases.

Families who previously planned their immigration strategies based on older policies may now need to reassess their options.
Common Immigration Misconceptions
Aneeta explains that many people misunderstand their rights:
- Having U.S.-born children does not automatically prevent deportation.
- Having legal status does not guarantee protection if status expires or paperwork is mishandled.
- Even minor criminal issues can affect immigration eligibility.
- Immigration consultants and “notarios” are not substitutes for licensed immigration attorneys.
Timothy adds that many immigrants mistakenly believe workers’ compensation and immigration issues are separate. In reality, many workers face both challenges together. California law protects workers regardless of immigration status, and people should not fear seeking legal protection.

Immigration enforcement changes have created anxiety for many families, especially mixed-status households. Long-term residents, employment-based visa holders, and families waiting for green cards often face uncertainty regarding travel, employment, and future stability.
Aneeta emphasizes that applicants must carefully manage deadlines, maintain lawful status, provide accurate information, and seek professional guidance before filing applications.

She emphasizes that honesty with an attorney is critical. A known problem can often be addressed; a hidden problem can become much more serious.
Why MCX Legal Expanded Into Immigration
The decision to expand into immigration came from years of seeing clients struggle with interconnected legal problems.
Aneeta recalls many injured workers who delayed seeking help because they feared immigration consequences. One client suffered a serious workplace injury but avoided filing a claim because of employer intimidation. MCX Legal helped her obtain medical treatment and benefits, but they later realized they could not assist with her immigration needs.
That experience reinforced the firm’s mission.
Timothy explains: “Our clients do not see workers’ compensation and immigration as separate problems. They see one crisis affecting their entire family. We wanted to be the firm that fights for the whole person — the paycheck and the right to stay.”
