ST LOUIS: It was a memorable performance by Nitin Mukesh and team at Clayton High school in St Louis on Friday April 26, organized by Seema Enterprises & Seema World Travel.
The theme of the near three-hour performance was “Remembering Mukesh”, the legendary Bollywood playback singer of yesteryears. Nitin Mukesh, his son, a very accomplished singer in his own right was presenting the immortal melodies of Mukesh. He was accompanied by the finest Bollywood orchestra. They captured the heart and imagination of all those who came to the show.
Accompanying Nitin Mukesh was female singers Namarta Sheth (Nitin Mukesh’s younger sister) and Manasi Paranjape.
“Remembering Mukesh” brought memories back for all of us -from Awaara, Chhallia, Shree 420, Sangam, Kabhi Kabhi, Milan, Saraswati Chandra to Roti Kapada aur Makan. His melodies are many and immortal. Having been intimately involved in the life of Mukesh, who better to bring his music and moods back to you than his son Nitin.
Nitin started with a shloka and then commenced what can only be termed a command performance for over three hours. Mukesh’s incredible association with India’s great showman Raj Kapoor was virtually brought to life through some magnificent renditions of ageless hits like Jeena yahan, Jaane kahaan gaye who din from Mera Naam Joker and the duet Oh mere sanam and Dost dost na raha from Sangam.
Manasi Paranjape, the young singer who has accompanied Nitin Mukesh on several tours, excelled in both her solo numbers and duets with Nitin Mukesh. The accompanying seven-member band also put up a tremendous performance for St. Louis music lovers.
