FREMONT: Theater is a powerful medium to, not only entertain, but to convey a message. Sheetal Ohri Inc., very effectively presented Bollywood Dreamz, “Journey of a Star”, a Broadway show to mesmerize a packed hall of over 400 viewers. The show beautifully combined key Bollywood elements of acting, dancing and singing with superb theatrics and strong storyline to create first Broadway style show to be performed in Bay Area on Bollywood theme.
The show is based on a simple yet powerful theme of an innocent boy’s dream of making it big and the travails and tribulations along the way. It goes on to show that there are choices one has to make along the way in order to achieve one’s dreams. However, it is important to make the right choices and be on the side of good, as in the end, success is meaningful only when it comes by just means.
Show was conceptualized, scripted and given shape by Sheetal Ohri of Sheetal Ohri Inc. She says, “The inception of this Broadway show was after SVA Awards 2012 last year where I produced and directed Laila Majnu for the entertainment part. It was very well received by the attendees and also worldwide through its You tube link, in a fantastic way. I started working on the idea with choreographer Uma Dhanapal of Kriyaa Dance academy and produced, directed my vision along with script writing for this one hour 50 minutes Broadway show this year. I have plans to take this to various other cities.”
The show was well attended not only by Bay Area patrons, but also graced by the local dignitaries such as San Ramon, Vice Mayor David Hudson, Indian Consul Community Affairs Anand Jha, Immigration attorney Anu Peshawaria and Teresa Cox. The Star guest was Hollywood Actor Roger Narayan.
This show featured musician Madan Oak of Wings on Strings Ensemble, choreographer Uma Dhanapal of Kriyaa Dance Academy, and Anusha Anand of Anusha Anand Dance Connection.
Ausaf Masud performed the lead role. The show also gave local Bay Area talent a chance to shine. The cast of over 75 rehearsed tirelessly in making this show a success.
