NEW DELHI: Foreign Secretary-designate Sujatha Singh will join the Ministry of External Affairs as Officer on Special Duty from Monday.
Singh, a 1976 batch officer of Indian Foreign Service, will take over charge from the current Foreign Secretary, Ranjan Mathai, after his retirement on July 31.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh-led Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Singh, Ambassador of India to Germany, as OSD in the Ministry in the rank and pay of Secretary with effect from July 15 and till her assumption of charge as Foreign Secretary, an official release issued today said.
59-year-old Singh will have a fixed tenure of two years.
The ACC has approved appointment of Anup Wadhawan, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Uttarakhand cadre, as Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services. Wadhawan is at present Joint Secretary in Department of Economic Affairs.
Another IAS officer, K P Krishnan, has been appointed as Additional Secretary, Directorate of Currency under Department of Economic Affairs of the Finance Ministry.
Krishnan, a 1983 batch officer of Karnataka cadre, is at present serving in the southern state.-PTI
