HYDERABAD: Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee, Padma Bhushan, Nata Samrat, Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao celebrating his 90th birthday this month, has announced that one NRI and nine other prominent people from different walks of life in Andhra Pradesh will be bestowed with “Akkineni Life Time Achievement Swarna Kankan awards.”
From the viewpoint of NRI community in North America, one of its activists from Texas, Prasad Thotakura was declared an Award recipient along with nine others from local area. The award presentation is scheduled for Sept. 22 at Ravindra Bharathi in the course of a star-studded ceremony hosted by Vamsee Art Theaters International, a noted service organization, headed by Vamsee Ramaraju.
Supreme Court Justice Jasti Chelameswar will be the Chief Guest and Padma Bhushan Dr C. Narayana Reddy, Dr T. Subba Ramireddy, MP and Entrepreneur N.T. Chowdary will attend as special guests. A special ANR Golden Hits live concert with full orchestra will be conducted by NRI popular singer Sarada Akunuri along with other noted singers Geetanjali, Chandrateja and Vinod Babu at this event. A special souvenir highlighting Dr ANR’s life history will be released on this occasion.

Prasad Thotakura from Dallas, TX, has been serving the Indian American community for more than 25 years. He has been associated with several organizations, including as President, Telugu Association of North Texas (Tantex); President, India Association of North Texas (IANT); President, Telugu Association of North America (Tana); General Secretary, Indian American Friendship Council (IAFC) and Advisory Board of Director, Dallas Community College District (DCCCD).
