Anil Kapoor is all set revisit his ‘Nayak’ days. Pen India Pvt Ltd is planning a film with a protagonist on the lines of Anil’s character in ‘Nayak: The Real Hero’, and has even roped in the actor to play the role.
A source clarified that the film is neither a sequel nor a prequel to the 2001 political thriller but will merely revolve around a character similar to Shivaji Rao.
“India has seen a lot of upheavals since 2001. There are many burning issues that need to be addressed on screen. In this film, like in Nayak: The Real Hero, Anil Kapoor’s character will work towards bringing in social change. It will be an issue based film,” the source said.
Nayak: The Real Hero, produced by A M Rathnam and directed by S Shankar, was a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Mudhalvan (1999).
The producers are yet to zero in on a director. The source added, “Anil is very excited about this project. Nayak: The Real Hero had earned him lot of awards and accolades. The production house will also take Anil’s creative inputs for the film.”
