NEW YORK: The 19th Hindu Unity Day (Hindu Sangathan Divas) was celebrated with pomp, dignity and lot of enthusiasm at the banquet Hall of “The Sterling” in New York on September 29 in commemoration of the coronation of Shivaji Maharaj in 1674.
Mahamandaleshwar Swami Harishchandra Puri, Chief Priest of Shiv Shakti Peeth temple in Queens, New York, inaugurated the Hindu Unity Day by blessing the audience and wishing them success in their endeavor. Swami Radeswarananda, spiritual disciple of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan of New York blessed the audience and emphasized the importance of Unity.
The general mood of public and the atmosphere in the banquet hall was electrifying. The manner in which Hindus from India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Trinidad, Guyana and different states of India expressed their solidarity was highly inspiring. Speakers gave thought provoking and uplifting speeches and this along with singing of patriotic songs pepped up the mood of all those gathered.
Two top stalwarts from Bharat, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Dr. Subramanian Swamy, a senior BJP leader, along with several community leaders blessed and addressed the gathering.
Dr Subramanian Swamy, the Keynote Speaker, enthralled the audience with his forceful narration and outstanding arguments in support of the unity. He projected that BJP along with its allies Shiv Sena and Akali Dal will gain absolute majority in India in 2014 elections. About Pakistan he said that Pakistan could be tackled easily if we can neutralize China.
Talking about Rahul Gandhi, Swamy expressed doubts about his political and mental competence. Swamy also hailed the asset India has in the form of young population (average age 27 years).
Baba Ram Dev was at his best in tearing apart the three musketeers of the “golmal regime” Sonia, Manmohan and Rahul, with utmost civility. Baba predicted that with Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate, the BJP will get close to 300 seats. He observed that the BJP will have a cakewalk in the 2014 election.
After the elections, Congress Party will dismember, finally fulfilling the wish of Mahatma Gandhi. “I will myself go to every nook and corner of the country to work for the victory of Narendra Modi and BJP.” As usual he was excellent in the art of oratory.
Dr Amrit Nehru, one of the senior most Kashmiri Hindu activists born and brought up in Kashmir said that it is a matter of great regret and shame that Hindus have to live in fear even after 65 years of country’s Independence.
You have heard about the ethnic cleansing, genocide and the mass murders of Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists in J&K during and after 1989 and the resultant exodus of more than seven lakh (seven hundred thousands) Hindus.
This was for the 7th time during the modern history of Kashmir when Islamists drove Hindus out of Kashmir. We had a time in history when “Janeuse” (sacred threads) were collected and burned after slaughtering thousands of Kashmiri Hindus.
During another time, Hindus were murdered and those surviving were enslaved and forcibly converted to Islam. Only 11 families were left who found shelter in the far-flung hills and forests to escape the slaughter.
Dr Narinder Kukar, an outstanding physician, a statesman and a winner of several awards, said that it is no time to be on the defensive; it is time to be on the offensive. He blamed the trustees of Hindu temples and the Hindu religious leaders for their inaction and negligence in educating their followers and helping them in their- endeavor to achieve what is rightfully theirs.
It should be their solemn duty to help Hindus as they draw their funds and power through Hindu worshippers. They, as keepers and leaders of Hindu faith, should do everything within their power to preserve and protect their rights as citizens of Bharat.
Devendra Singh, Founder President of Hindi-USA, stated that Indians should understand critically by analyzing and studying their civilization and western civilization. The unity must come not by slogans but by having more and more things in common. Hindi can help bringing unity in Bhartiyas. Rajiv Malhotra’s book ‘Being Different’ (Vibhinnata – Hindi version) should be read by all Bhartiyas.
M.R. Venkatesh, the author of several books, including “Dr. Manmohan Singh – A Decade Of Decay,” said that this book is a collection of his articles in Rediff.com over the past year or so. The book demonstrates how UPA government by its systematic loot and scoot policy has robbed India of her economic competitiveness, corroded institutions and suppressed human development indices. The book is available on Kindle.
Ramabhadra Dasa, President of ISKCON in New York who was a Catholic in his college days, stressed on the importance of Hindu Unity and urged everyone to meditate on God in whichever form they desire.
Earlier welcoming the audience, Narain Kataria, President of IAIF, said that the feeling of brotherhood and patriotism unleashed by this event will go a long way in further revitalizing and reenergizing our society. “We are on the march and are not going to stop now till the goal is reached,” he said amidst huge applause.
