NEWARK, CA: Northern California Cricket Association rounded off their successful 2012/2013 season by holding a colorful Awards Ceremony at Chandini Restaurant, Newark on December 6, which was well attended by all stake holders of NCCA, from players, supporters, match officials, media and not forgetting the sponsors, Matrix Insurance, Cal Coast Financial Corp and Intero real estate services.
Every year the Northern California Cricket Association organizes an awards ceremony for honoring the championship and runner-up teams as well as significant individual performances from the previous season.
Established in 1892 NCCA is a prestigious cricket league based out of Bay Area in Northern California, US with over 600 members forming its core base and many of NCCA cricketers were and are part of US National Cricket Team.
Sunil Kumar, Kumaran President, NCCA delivered the welcome address and the President’s note. Sunil congratulated NCCA players on their victory. Sunil laid out the vision of NCCA including the Youth Cricket Development Program – a Bay area wide program that will bring cricket to the younger generation. He congratulated the NCCA Women’s team who have actively involved themselves in cricket. He spoke about the transition to colored clothing, usage of white ball, tournament with International players as the biggest achievement of NCCA in 2013.
Sunny Sethi of Matrix Insurance Agency and Roger Bakshi of Cal Coast Financial corp gave away the awards to all the winners. Special Awards were given to recognize the contribution of individuals to the development of the game and to the best performers of the tournament. They appreciated the efforts of NCCA in taking cricket to the grass root level and spreading the awareness amongst all in the community through its Youth & Women’s Cricket Development Program.
The evening was a fun filed event with dance and singing performances by Kriya Academy and Nitya Bhayya. Nalli Silks fashion show was the highlight of the grand show.
Players were awarded in following categories: NCCA T20 Summer League, Bank of India & Price Cup, Women’s Team Recognition Award, Special Recognition Awards, NCCA Winter 2012.
