NEW DELHI: BJP today flayed Finance Minister P Chidambaram for criticizing its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on foreign soil and said it will seek explanation from him after his return.
“There has been a tradition that we all have followed that when we are abroad we do not discuss the country’s politics, do not criticize one another and instead speak for the country. Chidambaram has broken this custom. The more he is condemned for it, the less,” BJP leader Yashwant Sinha told reporters here.
Chidambaram, who is in Davos to attend the World Economic Forum meet, criticized Modi over his model of development.
Hitting back, Sinha accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram of “destroying” the economy,
The former Finance Minister said Modi had laid out his political and economic vision for the country during the meeting of the BJP’s National Council.
“Chidambaram has called BJP’s economic vision ‘blood-eyed’. He better knows what he means by it. But Modi has clearly spelt out his political and economic vision for the country in the national council’s meeting and it points to a definite direction,” he said.–PTI
