KHALILABAD (UP): Narendra Modi today mocked Sonia Gandhi’s recent invocation of god in which she prayed that the country be saved from the “Modi model”, saying it showed how big a problem she is facing as she had never before referred to god in her speeches.
Addressing a rally, the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate said Gandhi has been frequently remembering god in her public address and suggested that it was because of her concern that the ‘maa-beta’ government was going.
“The wickets of Congress are falling. I never heard Sonia Gandhi invoking god earlier in the last 20-25 years. You can yourself think what kind trouble faces Congress… The maa-beta government is not coming back, it is going,” he said, adding that a strong foundation for a new government has been laid in polls held so far.
Gandhi in a public speech had warned against the “divisive” agendas of BJP under Modi and said, “god save the country if they comes to power”.
Attacking Congress for using the secularism plank to target him, he said secularism had become a ploy to gain power for the ruling party.
“I am fighting for your happiness. They are fighting for their own happiness,” he said.
Congress, Modi said, turned the country into a “nation of scams” by committing large-scale corruption in every field by exploiting land, mines, space and water. “The country has become known as scam India is the world.”
Reaching out to youth, he said they did not want any luxury but jobs and but the UPA completely failed in providing them employment. If we cannot provide you employment, then the country will be in a dire state, he said. “In its manifesto for 2009 elections Congress had said that it would provide jobs to 10 crore youths. I want to ask how many youths here got employment. Today’s youths are craving for livelihood, they need employment. Congress had not done this in 60 years,” Modi added.
Modi claimed that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA government was at the centre it provided jobs to six crore youths in its six years rule.
“This government of mother and son failed to provide employment even to 1.5 crore people in 10 years,” he alleged.
Taking on SP and BSP on extending outside support to Congress led UPA government, the BJP prime ministerial candidate said, “Tell me if SP or BSP have done one thing for your welfare. They have done only one thing that is to extend support in Delhi. They only ran their own shops. They only indulged in shadow fighting. They all are talking about preventing Modi, which means they all are one.”
“This father and son SP government in Uttar Pradesh will not be able to save the mother and son government at Delhi this time. This is the reason Sonia repeatedly takes the name of God. You can imagine how big their problem is,” Modi said.
Modi said that if employment was to be given to the youths of the country, then their skills needed to be developed.
“If they are skilled then they will not remain hungry.
Skill development is important throughout the world. It’s my dream to make crore of youths of the country skilled,” he said.–PTI
