AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Home Department has decided to deport 30 Bangladeshi nationals including seven women, who were in jail on charges of illegal immigration for more than a year, officials said here.
“As per orders given to us by the Gujarat Home Department, 30 of the 34 Bangladeshi nationals, who were detained by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Gujarat police on the charge of illegal immigration to India, will be released soon,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the SOG, B C Solanki told PTI.
SOG had detained the Bangladeshi nationals during different time periods from one year to three years, from various areas in the city, Solanki said, adding that there are seven women among the detainees.
Solanki said that the 30 Bangladeshi nationals would be taken to Kolkata by SOG officials soon, where they would be handed over to Border Security Force (BSF) officials to deport them to their country.
BSF officials would deport them to Bangladesh after completing due procedures, he said.-PTI
