15 army men killed, 10 injured in militant ambush in Manipur

15 army men killed, 10 injured in militant ambush in ManipurIMPHAL/NEW DELHI: At least 15 army personnel were killed and ten injured today when an insurgent group ambushed their patrol in Chandel district of Manipur.

A team of 6 Dogra Regiment was on a road opening patrol (ROP) as part of their daily routine along Tengnoupal-New Samtal road, about 80 km from here, it was ambushed by an unidentified insurgent outfit with a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED), a police official said in Imphal.

In Delhi, Army sources said at least 15 army personnel were killed and 10 injured in the attack which took place at 8 am when the convoy reached a place between Paralong and Charong villages. More details are awaited.

The injured jawans were airlifted by the Army for treatment, police said.

A reinforcement party of the security forces was rushed to the spot for combing operation to nab the militants, it added.–PTI
