SHIMLA: Twelve bridges and fifteen windmills were washed away in cloudburst in Nirmand area of Kullu district while more than 250 pilgrims, returning from Srikhand Yatra, were stranded at Singhar and Thachru.
The presidents of Chayal and Deem panchayats, Sandev and Puran Thakur said that threat loomed large on 70 habitations in Bagir and Damar villages.
Link roads have been breached and hundreds of trees have been washed away in the cloudburst and stranded pilgrims are awaiting to be rescued, they said.
Meanwhile moderate rains occurred at some places in the region. Palampur, Pandoh and Jubbal received 46 mm, 44 mm and 43 mm rains respectively, followed by Sundernagar and Kumarsen 38 mm, Renuka 33 mm, Jogindernagar 32 mm, Paonta Sahib 30 mm, Sarkaghat and Dharamshala 26 mm, Mandi 20 mm, Rampur17 mm, Tissa 15 mm and Sujanpur Tira 14 mm.
The local MeT office has predicted rains and thundershowers at many places in lower, mid and higher hills over next six days up to July 30.–PTI
