MILPITAS, CA: San Jose’s KalaAwishkar Dance School and Vasantha Yoga will jointly present “Nritya Yoga”, a unique event demonstrating the synergy between Bharatanatyam and Yoga on August 30, 10:30 am -12:30 pm at the Shirdi Sai Parivar Theater, Milpitas.
Through the medium of dance, renowned Bharatnatyam exponent, Dr Swati Daithankar from Pune, India, and through traditional Yoga techniques, internationally recognized Yoga instructor
Mrs. Vasanthi Bhat, will showcase the common elements of the two disciplines and articulate the benefits to dancers as well as general public.
Dance is a form of Yoga. It is said that Lord Shiva, who is considered as the originator of the classical dance form Bharatanatyam as well as Yoga, practiced Nritya Yoga and passed it down to humans so that they could achieve a divine state of mind through meditation. Dr Daithankar will elucidate how the energy created through dance brings the human soul to a meditative state for both the dancers and the viewers.
Vasanthi Bhat will highlight the importance of Asanas, Pranayama, Mudras and Meditation for dancers and general public. Practicing these techniques will help achieve and maintain stamina, flexibility and inner peace. Dancers and athletes who challenge their bodies as well as those who are tied to their desks and computers can learn ways to avoid injuries and manage stress.
