Mayor too danced to Bappi tunes

BappiARROYO GRANDE, CA: On May 7, renowned Bollywood Disco King Bappi Lahiri and his son Bappa Lahiri performed at Clark Center for the Performing Arts in Arroyo Grande, California. Bappi Lahiri is a well known name all over India and internationally, acclaimed with many awards for composing and directing numerous hit songs. He introduced the “synthesized disco” music in India and is popular as Indian “Disco King”.

Currently, he’s working on a Hollywood animation movie “Shoana” in addition to directing and composing for many Indian movies in Hindi and Bengali.

At the Clark Center Performance, The Mayor of Pismo Beach, Mr. Waage, addressed the crowd and danced on stage during the musical performance. Ex Mayor of Pismo Beach Mrs. Shelly Higginbotham also danced on stage. Students from Judkins Middle School opened the performance singing The National Anthem. CalPoly students also participated on stage performing a BollyWood dance.

During Bappida’s performance, he sang many of his most popular hits including “I am a disco dancer”. Thanks to many community volunteers and participants this evening of Bollywood performance was a resounding success attended by over 300 guests. A special thanks to Susmita Guptapal and Dr. Jashu Patel for coordinating this event and getting this world famous Bollywood star to come to our area and perform.
