NEW DELHI: The All India Radio has launched an Odia language multimedia web radio service for the Odia Diaspora spread across the globe, according to an official statement.
The internet and App-based service, the first-ever in Odia language for the Odia Diaspora, will feature national and regional news, current affairs, music, programs based on culture, literature, heritage, tourism and economy, among other topics.
One of the unique features of this interactive internet radio linked to various social media platforms would be the Odia language lessons for the young children of the Odia PIOs and NRIs to keep in touch with their mother tongue, the statement said.
The service was launched by the AIR’s External Services coinciding with the Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath, it said.
Director of External Services Amlanjyoti Mazumdar said that with the launch of the service, the number of external Indian language services of the All India Radio has gone up to 13.
He also said that the service launch was in line with the Prasar Bharati Board’s decision to expand the global digital outreach of the Prasar Bharati.PTI
