Freida Pinto does not want people to be blind to her ethnicity. She says “the thing is if anyone sees me, you can always see the color of my skin. It is brown and I am obviously Indian. I don’t want someone to be blind to that. You can accept me for who I am.
The Slumdog Millionaire actress says, “I recently did a film which is not out yet because since I am Indian, they have to cast Indians as my parents, too. I am very proud that because of the color of my skin, more people get jobs. So, I think it is about accepting that there are different colors and also [about] being able to write roles for every color that one would write typically for the white race. The roles of white people are flawed, complex, badass. When I first came into the film scene, I wanted people to be color-blind and then it struck me, wait! I want them to see my color. I don’t want to be a white person,” she says.
