ITANAGAR: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that all effort is being made to streamline the health delivery system to provide health care services to the doorsteps of the people free of cost, an official communique has said.
The proposed health delivery system would ensure that people do not suffer for want of medical treatment, Rijiju, the union minister of state for home affairs said inaugurating a Health Mela at Aalo in West Siang district, it said. He said, the Centre has embarked upon the biggest health insurance scheme in the world – the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for 50 crore people of the country and would provide Rs five lakh annually to each patient.
Thousands of patients from different parts of the district thronged the Health Mela organized by West Siang district administration in collaboration with the district health society. The two-day Mela, conceived by the union ministry of health and family welfare and funded under National Rural Health Mission would be an annual event to be held in the two Lok Sabha constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh to screen ailments and provide people medicines free of cost, the communiqu added.
